This advise is specifically
intended for travel
professionals, but clearly
provides travellers with
a guideline for discussion
with their travel agent
or tour operator.
- Operators should draw each of our traveller's attention to the FCO advice. There are three ways to do this:
- Include a clause in terms and conditions, which the client signs as part of their booking procedure.
Suitable wording for this could be: "All our holidays to Zambia include internal flights within the country.
We draw your attention to the FCO travel advice on Zambia (www.fco.gov.uk), which advises against flying "if an acceptable alternative means of travel is available".
We have reputable airlines that we have used in
Zambia for many years; we use them ourselves when we fly and we've used them for many / hundreds /
thousands*** of our travellers in the past. We believe that they are safely operated and have checked that
they are properly insured. Flights with these airlines are included as part of your holiday”. *** delete as
appropriate
- Write each client a letter (or include a suitable clause in a letter) to check that they have seen the
advice, and get some written acknowledgement of this from the client.
This would be along the lines of the clause above, and would require the tour operator to get some form of
written acknowledgement from each client that they have read it, and understand the FCO's advice on
flights in Zambia.
- If an operator sells holidays through the web, and accept bookings via web-forms, then clients will need
to agree to a statement similar to the one above. They should be required to positively click a tick-box to
acknowledge this before they can finalise their booking.
- Regarding aircraft insurances . The airlines below have all added information regarding their insurance (see
participants)
- We would urge all Operators to verify that their preferred airlines carry appropriate Public Liability
insurance suitable for the requirements of the holiday package sold.
